MYTH vs. FACT: Young Kim Ads are FALSE

LIE #1

Young Kim’s ad says Ken Calvert supports a new 30% tax on gas and groceries.

That’s a lie. Ken has never supported a 30% tax on gas and groceries. Ken voted for the Tax Cuts in Jobs Act in 2017, which lowered tax rates for all tax brackets and increased the standard deduction – simplifying our tax system.

Before the historic 2017 tax reform, Ken had said he was open to tax proposals that would lead to a simpler, fairer tax system. One of those ideas was what’s known as the “fair tax” proposal, which is a national sales tax. It’s important to note that the “fair tax” proposal includes the complete elimination of the national income tax.

LIE #2

Young Kim’s ad calls Ken Calvert corrupt.

This is another desperate lie. The Press Enterprise and Orange County Register have called this attack “FALSE.” In response to allegations, they wrote “Calvert didn’t do that.”

Ken is the only candidate in the 40th District who is endorsed by sheriffs, district attorneys, and local law enforcement because he’s always supported law and order.
